Book Review: The Cosy Tea Shop In The Castle by Caroline Roberts (No spoilers, I promise).
This summer I read The Cosy Tea Shop In The Castle by Caroline Roberts.
The cover attracted me to this book, they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover but to be honest I tend to. I love how the book screams girly, sweet and all things nice (& tasty).
Whilst watching my husband and son building sandcastles, I sat back and enjoyed reading about Ellie’s wish for a new venture to open a tea shop and how chasing her dream would dramatically change her life.
I loved reading about the delicious cakes that Ellie bakes, as I could imagine myself in her shoes and having the same ideas. The teashop sounds like somewhere my family and I would like to eat at.
I enjoyed the relationship between Ellie and Joe, I won’t say too much as I don’t want to spoil it for you, but there were times when I could have happily have told Joe where to go.
There were a couple of little twists towards the end that I didn’t see coming which I liked as it added an element of surprise and enhanced the plot of the story which made the book stand out to me.
There was quite a lot of ‘passion talk’ and that’s not something I feel comfortable writing about, however it maybe something that floats your boat!
I loved the fact that at the back of the book there is the famous Nanna’s Choffee Cake Recipe. This is mentioned throughout the book as Ellie’s special bake, as her nan would often make it for family celebrations.
I would recommend this book if you enjoy a girly feel good book, sprinkled with a few sugary treats and passion.
At Christmas I plan to settle down with a glass of red and a mince pie to read The Cosy Christmas Tea Shop by Caroline Roberts.
